Veterans Recognition Program

Our McGregor Hospice team is dedicated to providing quality of care through end-of-life. For those serving in uniform, we recognize the sacrifices that our men and women of the armed forces have made, in believing that all Americans owe a debt of gratitude that is immeasurable to those who have served to defend our country. Traumatic experiences such as war can produce feelings of depression, sleeplessness, anger and irritability, loss of interest, nightmares, guilt, shame, aggressive behaviors, lack of support and feelings of not being in con-trol reflects the intensity of the trauma. This is known as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Sometimes these symptoms don’t surface for months or even years after returning from deployment and can impact every-day life of the individual and family. With these thoughts in mind, we have developed a “Veterans Recognition Program”. The purpose is to recognize Veterans who are receiving services from McGregor Hospice. All Veterans receive a framed Certificate of Appreciation, Service Medal of Honor and Cap. In addition, Journals are provided to record the Veterans’ memories which will be given to their families. Our ultimate goal is to provide the highest quality of care for patients who are Veterans. McGregor Hospice staff are trained in traumatic experiences and how they can affect end of life for some Veterans.
