McGregor Doesn’t Want Anyone to Go Hungry During COVID-19

Here Are Some Things Food Pantries Need to Keep Feeding People

McGregor has a commitment to its staff that goes beyond paychecks and benefits. We found out that some of our employees were struggling to feed their families, and that just wasn’t acceptable. The fact that some of our employees were going home at night to empty cabinets and hunger pains did not sit well with us. So we did what McGregor does. We acted.

Our staff created a McGregor food pantry that is open every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. Our pantry provides meats like fish, lamb, and beef and also provides fruits and vegetables, cereal, and pasta. Toiletry items are also available. Our pantry is open to our employees, and it has been a tremendous success.

With food pantries now being overwhelmed by trying to service a record number of unemployed Americans, we thought it might be useful to know what the biggest needs of local food providers are during this crisis. According to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, these are the items that they need the most:

Food Items:

  • Beef Stew

  • Canned Soup

  • Canned Vegetables

  • Canned Tuna

  • Peanut Butter

  • Cereal

Non-Food Items:

  • Deodorant

  • Laundry Detergent

  • Shampoo

  • Toilet Paper

  • Soap

  • Toothbrushes

  • Toothpaste

If you would like to donate to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, you can do so Mon. – Fri., 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
