Volunteers are Always Needed, Forever Appreciated!

The Polks are multi-talented volunteers and always work as a pair.

They are on the Hospice Team and are volunteer visitors for the people in our hospice program, providing quality, compassionate visits to our hospice patients with music on CD’s, prayer and conversation.

Their goal is to comfort our hospice patients and bring them peace.

Recognized in 2017, Mr. & Mrs. Polk were Hospice Volunteers of the Year!

They both participated in our MLK celebration program, January 20, 2020,  when James recited the  “I Have A Dream" speech” !

Mr. Polk's speech skills are unparalleled and if you close your eyes you believe you are listening to Martin Luther King, himself!  It brought chills and tears to many in the Community Room, including this writer.

Mrs. Polk sang a song that was absolutely beautiful. We were aware of their talents but did not know about Janet Polk’s amazing singing skills.

This couple has a beautiful marriage: they exercise together, they share the same winter colds and stay home to take care of each other. Judy Simon, the Volunteer Services Director, enjoys watching Mr. Polk drop Mrs. Polk off at the front door before he parks the car. He then gets the car from the parking lot and picks her up at the front door when it is time to leave.  They are just such a joy to watch!

McGregor is so fortunate to have this couple as volunteers!

With much thanks and gratitude to Mr. & Mrs. Polk
