Ever hear of Galentine’s Day?

According to Urban Dictionary, Galentine’s Day is celebrated on February 13, the day before Valentine’s Day. It’s a day to celebrate the love you have for your lady friends, whether they’re single or not, and shower them with love and attention…more than you do every other day.

The best thing about Galentine’s Day is that was created by a fictional character: Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation. In 2010, the second season of Parks and Rec included an episode called “Galentine’s Day,” in which Leslie gathers a group of her closest gal pals for a brunch full of waffles and love.

For those of you who have never observed the holiday, Galentine’s Day is a day dedicated to appreciating the best gal pals in your life. Because while romantic love may come and go in your life, your best friends usually stay in the “forever” setting. And even if you do have that special someone in your life, you can always take the time to let your besties know that they mean the world to you!
