A Day in the Life of a Senior in Assisted Living
Experience a Resident’s Typical Day at McGregor
If you or a loved one is considering a move to an assisted living community, you probably have spent time wondering what life there would be like. We would like to pull back the curtain, so to speak, and give you an idea of daily life at McGregor Assisted Living. Of course, every resident has unique needs and interests, but this should help you imagine what you or a loved one’s life would be like in an assisted living environment.
Morning
Seniors at McGregor Assisted Living wake up in their studio or one-bedroom apartment, furnished and decorated just the way they like it with meaningful photos, special mementos, and comfortable furniture. If specified in their care plan, a staff member will arrive at a scheduled time to provide assistance with bathing, grooming, and dressing. After getting ready for the day, residents might enjoy coffee and a newspaper in their apartment, or they may join with others in the dining room for a delicious hot meal. Breakfast is one of three restaurant-style meals they receive at McGregor every day.
Depending on the daily schedule, seniors may have opportunities to take an outing to a nearby Cleveland museum or attraction. Perhaps they will head down the hall to the barber or salon or participate in a group exercise or aquatics class. If they choose, they may decide to spend the morning simply relaxing in their apartment. There is no schedule that they need to keep—they are free to decide how to spend their time!
Afternoon
After lunch, residents might be visited by staff who perform weekly housekeeping and laundry services. On a beautiful day, they may take a walk around the grounds with a friend. If it is raining or snowing, they may instead head to the fitness center. There will be no shortage of activities to choose from, ranging from spiritual services and choir to seasonally inspired events around the holidays. At McGregor Assisted Living, no day is the same. We strive to provide a variety of programs, activities, and opportunities that engage and stimulate our seniors and support them socially, mentally, and physically.
Evening
Seniors may choose to enjoy the evening in the comfort of their apartment or in one of the luxurious lounge spaces for a group movie or game night. It is up to them! Ultimately, life in assisted living offers seniors the freedom to create their own daily routine and live independently while supporting their safety and well-being.
