McGregor’s Executive Director Interviewed on 90.3 ideastream

Learn From Our Q&A With Dr. Hari Balaji

Throughout the last year, reporters on 90.3 WCPN’s ideastream have been interviewing various individuals on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. On January 28, 2021, reporter Jenny Hamel spoke to our executive director, Yuvette Bozman, for her thoughts on how COVID-19 has affected life at McGregor’s senior care facilities, how McGregor has worked to contain the spread of the virus, and how the availability of the vaccine has impacted the staff and residents.

Director Bozman highlighted the resiliency of her staff in weathering the storm of COVID-19 from the initial cancellation of visitation nearly a year ago to their ongoing work to combat the spread of COVID-19 within McGregor’s senior living communities. You can listen to the interview starting at around the 40:00-minute mark.

Throughout the interview, Jenny referenced the hesitancy of many workers in long-term health-care environments to get the COVID-19 vaccine. As she noted, more than 60 percent of long-term health-care workers in the State of Ohio have opted out of the vaccine.

While more than 85 percent of McGregor residents have been vaccinated, as of January 28, 2021, only 40 percent of McGregor staff has chosen to receive the vaccine. Director Bozman noted that they are focused on educating and encouraging staff members to consider the vaccine and its benefits in stopping the spread of the virus. McGregor’s Medical Director, Dr. Harigopal Balaji, recently led a panel discussing the benefits of the vaccine and addressing common staff questions and concerns, which you can read more about in our recent blog.

If you have questions regarding our ongoing staff vaccination effort and the actions being taken to protect residents from the spread of COVID-19 in our McGregor communities, please do not hesitate to reach out.
