AI Software Already Improving Hiring and Retention for Local Employers

Four local nonprofit senior living organizations have joined forces to pilot a new artificial intelligence hiring program to help them more successfully identify and retain new hires. McGregor Senior Living, Eliza Jennings, Judson Senior Living, and Jennings Center for Older Adults are collaborating with software company Arena Analytics to better predict where a job candidate is most likely to thrive.

The new software enables the four nonprofits to better identify individual applicants who are more likely to be a good match for an individual role, versus another candidate, based on a short survey and publicly available data.

The program went live in spring 2024 and the results are very promising.

  • From the job seeker perspective:  Job seekers appreciated being provided visibility to opportunities they didn’t know about but for which they were a match. 80% of candidates offered an additional job which fit with their skills and interests viewed the new roles, and almost half of those candidates clicked through to the job.  10% of them actually filled out additional applications based on this matching.
  • From the employer perspective: Employers found the individuals who were the “strongest fit” according to Arena were more likely to show up for interviews and more likely to be hired.  Even better: turnover at the 30 and 60 day marks has been reduced at some employers by 41%!

Each of the employers is also learning about their own opportunities from employer-specific data as well as learning from best practices discussions in the quarterly strategy sessions.

While in its early days, the learning will only increase, offering insight into ways to use this type of technology to improve the matching between people and employers.
