Hearts Wide Open is more than a concert, it’s a moving journey through memory, music and shared human experience. Created through a collaboration between Near West Theatre and the May Dugan Center’s Seniors on the Move! program, this unique residency brings older adults together to explore their personal histories through storytelling, reflection and song.
The residency reaches its joyful culmination on Friday, April 24 at 2 PM, when participants take the stage for a heartfelt community performance. Audiences will experience beloved songs interwoven with original reflection, each one shaped by the rich, lived experiences of the performers. The result is both powerful and deeply personal: an invitation to listen, learn and celebrate the voices that have helped shape our community.

“Hearts Wide Open stands as a testament to what is possible when organizations come together with a shared purpose, and when philanthropy meets community need,” said Lee Ann O’Brien, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for the McGregor Foundation. “Through thoughtful grantmaking, the McGregor Foundation supports older adult programs like Hearts Wide Open across Cuyahoga, Summit, and Lorain counties, providing opportunities for older adults to connect, create and thrive.”
Established in 2002, The McGregor Foundation’s mission is to support both older adults and the organizations that serve them, investing in programs that enrich lives, foster dignity and create meaningful connection.
