Celebrating Service: McGregor’s Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

Each year, McGregor hosts a special appreciation luncheon to honor its diverse and dedicated volunteer community—numbering more than 450 individuals—who generously give their time to support residents. The event, which was held on April 22, serves as a heartfelt opportunity to recognize the meaningful impact volunteers make every day to McGregor residents.

According to Jacqueline Southern, Life Enrichment Director and Volunteer Coordinator at McGregor, the luncheon is a meaningful way to recognize the generosity and spirit of the volunteers. “Our volunteers bring so much joy to residents through their presence and engagement,” Southern said. “Their contributions create truly meaningful connections and have a lasting impact on residents’ quality of life. At the same time, volunteers are often deeply touched by the relationships they build and the life experiences residents share, which can shape their own perspectives.”

McGregor’s volunteers represent a wide range of ages and backgrounds—from high school students to individuals who are generational peers of the residents they support. Some demonstrate exceptional dedication, such as a college student who chose to remain on campus over the summer to continue volunteering rather than return home.

The program benefits from the involvement of wide range of organizations including sororities and fraternities, public and private high schools, corporate teams, community partners and organizations and faith-based groups, who all contribute their time and energy to enhancing the lives of McGregor residents.
