Every month, as the doors open for the McGregor Food Pantry at Forest Hill, employees and community members arrive knowing they will find more than food and household essentials—they will find support, kindness, and a team of dedicated staff working behind the scenes to make it all possible.
In June, the Food Pantry will take place at 14800 Private Drive in Cleveland, on the McGregor campus in the PACE building from 1:00 – 3:30 pm. Essentials including canned and packaged foods, fresh produce, toiletries and clothing items are available to staff and community members who need them. While the shelves are stocked with donations and supplies, the true strength of the pantry comes from the people who keep it running.
This month, McGregor celebrates two individuals whose commitment often goes unnoticed, but whose impact is felt by everyone who walks through the pantry doors: Tommy Carlton and Ben Richardson from Environmental Services.
Month after month, without fail, Tommy and Ben arrive ready to help. They break down mountains of boxes, remove spoiled food, vacuum floors, wipe down surfaces, and ensure the pantry room is clean, organized, and prepared for the next delivery. Their work begins long after many others have finished and often involves tasks that are physically demanding and behind the scenes.
Because of their dedication, volunteers can work more efficiently, deliveries can be received smoothly, and pantry visitors can shop in a welcoming environment. Their efforts help transform a room full of supplies into a resource that serves countless people throughout the community.
The McGregor Food Pantry is a success because of teamwork, and Tommy and Ben embody the spirit of service that makes PACE special. Their reliability, hard work, and willingness to help wherever needed remind us that every contribution matters.
