Each year on June 27th, we celebrate national sunglasses day. As the nights get brighter and the sun shines stronger, the need for sunglasses increases. These popular summer accessories actually play an important role in protecting one of the most important senses; vision.

Maintaining eye and vision health is an important part in preserving independence and safety. Exposure to the sun’s harsh ultraviolet rays can be extremely harmful to the human eye and can lead to decrease in vision. Just by wearing sunglasses, you can block close to 90% of these rays.
Whether going for a daily walk or driving to work, wearing sunglasses is one of the easiest yet beneficial ways to preserve your vision. Coming in all shapes, sizes, and colors, there are sure to be a pair that fits you perfectly. Stop in just about any convenient store, and you are bound to find a few pairs. June 27th reminds us that even the simplest habits can be beneficial to our health.
