Maybe you have a family member that lives far away. Maybe there’s a friend you only get to see every blue moon. While the upcoming technology can be frustrating and feel impossible to navigate, it also offers a way to stay connected with those that matter most.
With so many different social media platforms, it can be overwhelming to determine which one best fits your needs. While TikTok is more entertainment, and snapchat is focused on socializing for younger teens, platforms like Facebook and Instagram provide a simpler way to keep up with the lives of many.
A quick scroll on Facebook can allow you to see a friend’s birthday post, pictures of grandchildren, beautiful vacation photos, and even infographics keeping you up to date on specific events. Instagram offers similar opportunities while keeping loved ones feeling close, even when miles away.

Beyond staying in touch, social media can allow discovery of new interests. It is not uncommon to see cooking, dogs, or hobbies on an explore page. These allow a spark of interest and allow a community to form within these interests. You can often find organizations on social media, allowing information to travel fast. Seeing fun photos or even save the dates are now all accessible right from your phone.
While technology might not replace a physical hug or handwritten letter, it allows the opportunity to stay in touch with those around the world. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when dealing with technology; it is a new world for all of us. Be sure to follow McGregorcommunities on both Facebook and Instagram so you don’t miss fun events!
