Celebrating the Vital Contributions of Our Social Workers
While we celebrate our social workers every day, we enthusiastically join in recognizing them during National Social Work Month. As this year’s theme states: The time is right for social work. The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) leads this annual effort to underscore the contributions our social workers have made in this country for more than a century and how the services they provide are needed now more than ever.
Our social workers are an integral part of the team at McGregor, helping our existing and new residents and their families get the resources and services they need to remain as independent as possible. Every day, they are coordinating care services, planning rehabilitative needs, and accepting referrals for new arrivals—whether for permanent placement or for short-term rehabilitative services. Their days are fast-paced, productive, and rewarding—and certainly sometimes challenging and tedious—and we could not provide our compassionate care for seniors without them as a vital part of our team.
Social workers need our support, as well. There is currently a shortage of social workers across a variety of industries where they are greatly needed.
