Karen Sanders, McGregor’s Human Resources Intern, assisted our Human Resources Director with a variety of HR tasks this summer.
Throughout the course of her internship, Karen worked alongside the Human Resources Director on numerous projects to serve current and incoming employees of McGregor. A few highlights include scheduling interviews and orientations for new hires, preparing and performing a weekly orientation class, managing open positions, and completing fingerprinting and background checks for new employees. Karen also reached out to different corporations such as Kalahari, Cedar Point, Kennywood, and Waldameer to arrange the opening of a corporate account for employees so that they can enjoy discount rates at these places.
Karen recently graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management. In the future, Karen plans on joining a human resources team where she can inspire and motivate others. She also plans on continuing to grow in her professional career by adding an HR certification to her education.
For Karen, her internship at McGregor has been meaningful in helping to achieve her goals. She says, “This internship helped me to gain valuable hands-on work experience which I will be able to use in my future career. Through, observing the day-to-day duties of a Human Resource Generalist and Director, this internship has prepared me to enter the workforce with confidence that I can get the job done.”
