July is UV Safety Awareness Month, and it is here to remind you to protect yourself and your skin from the sun!
All year round, especially during these hot summer months, it is very important to wear sunscreen to protect your skin against harmful UV rays. Even on a cloudy day it is important to wear, and reapply, sunscreen as the rays pass right through the clouds. Broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF of 30 or above is the best type of sunscreen you can use for ultimate protection.
The sun is the main cause of skin cancer, and skin cancer is most prominent in those 65 years of age or older. Also, a study from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention states that sunburn was reported among individuals of all racial and ethnic groups. Everyone needs to wear sunscreen!
