October celebrates Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, is considered the holiest day of the year and indicates the end of the Ten Days of Repentance.

Yom Kippur is celebrated with a 25-hour fast that begins at sundown the evening before the holiday and ends the next night. During this time no work is to be done, as those who celebrate attend five religious services throughout the day. Once the fast has ended, people come together for an after-fast feast to welcome the new year and all that lies ahead.
