Happy Valentines Day! Valentine’s Day is for spreading time with people you love, whether that be a significant other, your family, or friends. Valentine’s Day is a Christain holiday to honor a martyr Saint Valentine. Now it is a global mass celebration of romance. People celebrate Valentines Day with cards, chocolate covered strawberries, going on romantic days with their partners, and more.

Global Facts about St. Valentine’s Day:

  • In the Philippines, mass weddings are a common occurrence on this day
  • In Japan, women give gifts to men on this day, and a month later men return the gesture on “White Day”
  • In Bulgaria, the 14th of February is also Winemakers Day.
  • In South Africia, women pin the names of the men they are interested in on their sleeve in the shape of a heart.
  • In South Korea, Valentine’s Day is celebrated on the 14th of each month with different meanings every time.
