Pride Month: Celebrating Inclusion, Visibility & Belonging

June is recognized as LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and it celebrates identity, visibility, and diversity. The month also celebrates how far the LGBTQ+ community has come, advocating for equal rights and social justices.
Pride Month originated from the first pride marches in 1970, one year after the infamous Stonewall protests. Officially recognized as Gay and Lesbian Pride Month by the government in 1999, the month also honors victims to hate crimes, violence, and the AIDS crisis. Pride Month in June serves as a reminder of the struggles the community has faced and a celebration of what the LGTBQ+ community has built.
In Cleveland, Pride Month is celebrated like many cities in the United States, with marches, food, exhibitors, and entertainment. The are put together by the Cleveland LGBT Center and take place on Saturday June 6th, 2026.

We recognized the diverse cultures and individuals who make our communities valued and appreciated.
