A cup of coffee each morning has become the norm for most people, but is this really the best way to start your day?
That caffeine rush could be what gets the day started, but coffee is not the only thing with caffeine in it. Dark chocolate, soda, even some teas can contain sums of caffeine. While caffeine is not necessarily bad, understanding the appropriate amounts and the risks that come with it are important.
National Coffee Day is September 29th.

Caffeine is a stimulant found in certain plants, and it stimulates the body’s nervous system. The right amount of caffeine can allow people to feel more awake and sometimes even have more focus. While most professionals say you should not consume more than 400 milligrams a day, this differs person to person.
As the body ages, the nervous system, digestive system, mind and motor change. This means that caffeine could be reacting differently within your body. Certain medications, such as stimulants, can affect how the caffeine is being absorbed. Consuming too much caffeine can lead to increased anxiety, being super jittery, and more seriously, heart conditions.
While it is not necessary to give up your comforting cup of coffee each morning, it is critical to be conscious of how much caffeine is being consumed each day. Stay hydrated and focus on your health!
