As McGregor prepares to celebrate its legacy of more than 150 years, we look into our past founders and humble beginnings, to our present growth and innovation, and next to the future opportunities and sustainability of an organization that Clevelanders have come to know for more than a century and a half. McGregor 1877-2027.

Leadership and Governance play an important role in successful nonprofit organizations. An engaged, skilled board and leaders who looks beyond basic fiduciary duties and actively partners in strategic planning, networking, and adaptability ensures services remain relevant to the community.
While McGregor began in 1877, our Foundation was established in 2002 as the only grantmaking foundation in the State of Ohio, solely dedicated to supporting other nonprofits who provide resources for older adults.
As we look to the future
The Cleveland-based McGregor Foundation focuses on senior care and aging services. Recent strategic shifts involve geographical and program expansion in several different counties. The foundation expanded its grantmaking and its McGregor PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) services into Summit County, adding to its existing coverage in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.
The cornerstone of McGregor’s immediate future is a $35 million residential development called McGregor Landing, slated for completion in 2027. Partnering with CHN Housing Partners, this project is a 115-unit, four-story affordable independent living complex located in Elyria. It establishes a brand-new model for Lorain County by physically connecting affordable apartments directly to McGregor’s clinical medical facilities.
Scaling the “PACE” Healthcare Model Regional Footprint
McGregor is doubling down on its Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), a state-funded framework that delivers comprehensive medical, social, and physical therapy services directly to older adults to keep them out of nursing homes
The foundation continues to solidify its role as a regional funder to support the broader infrastructure of aging services in Ohio, the McGregor Foundation’s future roadmap involves consistent semi-annual distribution cycles. They continue to award hundreds of thousands of dollars per cycle to external nonprofits providing critical community programming for older adults.
