Each morning at McGregor, the day begins gently. Buildings wake slowly as the aroma of fresh coffee fills the halls and residents ease into their routines at their own pace. But what truly brings McGregor to life – the spark that transforms it from a place where people live into a place where they belong—are the active senior adults gathering for a day of connection, laughter, and purpose, guided by McGregor’s dedicated activity professionals.
National Activity Professionals Week, celebrated January 23–29, shines a spotlight on the vital role these professionals play in senior living communities nationwide. This observance raises awareness of how meaningful, engaging activities combat isolation, foster connection and enhance quality of life for residents in independent, assisted, and long-term care settings. It also underscores the importance of person-centered care and the powerful impact activities have on emotional and physical well-being.
At McGregor, the team includes Jacqueline Southern, Director of Life Enrichment; Monique Tabbs, Independent Activities and Service Coordinator; Jade Armstrong, Activities Coordinator; and Sandra Brown, Life Enrichment Coordinator Assisted Living. Together, this compassionate team creates experiences that enrich residents’ daily lives – everything from game days and evening socials to museum tours in University Circle, exercise and yoga classes, music programming, gardening, chess clubs, and so much more.
Activity professionals like Jacqueline, Monique, Sandra, and Jade do more than fill a schedule. They turn quiet hours into meaningful moments, transform anxiety into anticipation, and help residents feel connected, valued, and at home.
