A Life of Service, Adventure and Resilience: Honoring Air Force Veteran Al Cliette

At 89 years old, Al Cliette still has the energy and curiosity of someone who has never stopped embracing life. After attending Michigan State University for a year, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a radio operator and translator, transcribing Morse code communications with precision. During his six years of military service, he earned top-secret security clearance, reflecting the trust and responsibility placed in him.

Beyond his service, Al discovered another passion that brought him joy for decades—roller skating. Alongside his wife, he traveled throughout the Midwest, from Dallas to Chicago, competing, building friendships, and enjoying the excitement and freedom of the skating rink.

Al and his wife shared many happy years together in their home before health challenges led him to begin a new chapter at McGregor Senior Living. While life has presented its share of obstacles, Mr. Cliette’s adventurous spirit, resilience, and positive outlook continue to shine through.

Mr. Cliette’s story is about much more than his military service. It is the story of a life filled with dedication, adventure, hard work, family, love, loss, and perseverance. His journey reminds us that every veteran carries a lifetime of experiences that extend far beyond their years in uniform.

At McGregor Senior Living, we are honored to celebrate veterans like Mr. Cliette by preserving their stories and recognizing the remarkable lives they have built. Through every conversation, every memory, and every shared experience, we ensure their legacies continue to inspire future generations.
