Toledo-region legislators and advocates to discuss PACE

Innovative program provides “nursing home without walls,” offers cost savings and positive health outcomes

TOLEDOState legislators and elected officials from Northwest Ohio will gather this Monday, August 15 to learn more about the Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and efforts underway to expand the program to the Toledo region.

 What is PACE?

PACE [the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly] provides comprehensive medical and social services to certain older adult participants living in the community. The program provides all needed health care, medical care, and ancillary services across all settings. Services include primary and specialty care, adult day health services, personal care services, inpatient hospital care, prescription drugs, occupational/physical therapies, and nursing home care, offered through an interdisciplinary team responsible for coordination of 24-hour care delivery. The majority of those served by PACE are dually eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.

Currently, McGregor supports the only PACE program in Ohio, servicing Cuyahoga County residents with plans to expand into Lorain County in 2023.

Attendees will hear presentations from Ohio’s only current PACE provider, aging services providers serving the Toledo region interested in offering PACE, and an update on legislative efforts to expand the program during the lame duck legislative sessions this fall.
