This Veterans Day we honor the service and sacrifice millions of Veterans have selflessly dedicated
to the United States.

November 11th- First celebrated in 1919, Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day,” celebrating the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Signed at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, the armistice brought about a temporary cessation of hostility bringing the “Great War” to a long-awaited end.
In 1921, an unidentified American soldier killed in WWI was buried at Arlington National Cemetary in a tomb commemorating the sacrifices of all unknown soldiers. Now, each year at 11 o’clock, Arlington National Cemetary guards honor the unknown soldier in a Veterans Day Ceremony where a wreath is placed on top of the tomb to honor and thank all who have served.
After extensive lobbying efforts by Veterans organizations, Armistice Day officially became known as Veterans Day in 1954. Since then, Veterans Day honors the service of veterans in all wars and allows Americans to express thanks for their sacrifice.
According to the US Census Bureau, there are roughly 16.8 million veterans in the United States, most of whom are men over the age of 75. These veterans have protected our freedom at the expense of their own safety.
McGregor celebrates our own Veterans who have come through out doors, both past and present.
From all of us here at McGregor, thank you for your service.
