McGregor Partners with American Red Cross to Host Community Blood Drive on May 20

McGregor Senior Living is teaming up with the American Red Cross, Northern Ohio Region, to host a community blood drive on Wednesday, May 20 – inviting residents, staff and the community to support lifesaving blood donation efforts.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Red Cross teams will be stationed at The Gardens of McGregor, located at 14900 Private Drive in East Cleveland, to collect blood and platelet donations. All blood types are needed to help maintain a reliable supply for patients in need.

Donors are asked to bring a blood donor card, a driver’s license, or two other forms of identification for check-in.

How to Donate: Both walk-ins and scheduled appointments are welcome on May 20. To reserve a time, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

“Last year we held our first Red Cross blood drive inviting McGregor staff to donate blood, and it was very successful,” said Leah Bentley, Compliance Officer at McGregor. “As part of the McGregor Wellness Committee’s goal to strengthen our connection with the surrounding community, we are opening this year’s drive to the public. We hope our neighbors will join us to help increase donations and expand our impact aiding the Red Cross mission.”

Organizers aim to grow participation each year, with plans to expand the initiative across McGregor’s five PACE campuses in Cuyahoga, Lorain, and Summit counties.

“Our purpose is to connect and give back to the community while providing meaningful opportunities for staff engagement across McGregor,” said Lesley Harden, Director of Health Plan Operations at McGregor. “ This blood drive is a 100 percent employee-driven initiative led by the McGregor Wellness Committee, reflecting our inclusive, community-focused culture.”
